82% of the guests surveyed by GF Hotels trust the chain’s safety with the ‘new COVID-19 reality’

The Canarian hotel group presents We protect you protect us, a safety protocol guide that responds to the survey given to its customers

The chain, owned by Grupo Fedola, announces the opening of GF Isabel, GF Victoria and GF Fañabé for the month of July

The guests of GF Hotels show full confidence in the measures adopted in their establishments. This is one of the main conclusions of the survey carried out by the Canarian chain of 5,339 potential clients, during full lockdown, from different countries. 82% of those surveyed confirm that the protection measures established by the government and by the sector itself will be sufficient to create a safe environment in hotel establishments.

Customers show moderate concern about how COVID-19 would affect their future hotel experience. Under the name of 5 minutes for our future with you, the chain owned by Grupo Fedola, launches this consultation carried out in the period between May 18th and June 1st.

The president of Grupo Fedola, Victoria López, highlights the effort made by GF Hotels to confront a scenario of changes produced by coronavirus. Responding to client queries, she said, “we intend to reduce their doubts and real concerns, we believe that this is innovative because with this process; “Listen, we will go ahead and invite them to participate with solutions that they themselves can provide us with, a few weeks before the reopening of most of our hotels.” López adds that the survey has been extended to the 1,200 colleagues in the group “to provide solutions that improve their work experience and generate confidence from the time of their incorporation.”

Specific training and protocols

Another of the relevant conclusions of the survey is the responsibility given to the hotel staff to resolve the doubts generated by the measures adopted in the establishments. In their responses, they ask for adequate training of employees and, at the same time, request specific safety and hygiene protocols for the chain.

The director of operations of GF Hotels, Juan Carlos de León, affirms that they are already working on an extensive training rollout for the entire workforce and a guide has been created with general measures called We protect you protect us, a document that has as a reference the protocol of the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE). “With this guide we reinforce our commitment to the new reality and show our bond with guests, colleagues and society,” highlights de León. This manual is open to the new regulations of a sectorial nature and, with this, the chain will take care of all the specific details that offer a hotel experience as similar as possible to the one that guests had before the pandemic.

Opening of hotels

Surveys and protocols are the tools that are being used so that the opening of hotels is carried out with full guarantees. Three hotels are schedules for the month of July; GF Isabel on the 1st, GF Victoria on the 8th and GF Fañabé on the 15th. This is a strategic decision based on an increasingly optimistic scenario. For Victoria López, the reservation data of the establishments “encourage us to resume the activity and we believe that there is a valid scenario, from the health point of view, to face what remains of the summer campaign, in order to be strongly prepared for the winter season”.

The president of the Canarian corporation hopes to contribute to generating more trust with the opening of the chain’s hotels and other establishments in the Canary Islands. “I hope we all get back to work; entrepreneurs, authorities and society, so that the main industry of the Islands can get back on track, minimizing the risks of contagion from COVID-19. For our part, we are already willing to pull together to achieve that goal,”adds López.

The opening of GF Gran Costa Adeje is postponed until December once the refurbishment works of part of its facilities are completed. GF Noelia, the hotel in Puerto de la Cruz, will be ready for re-opening in September.
